Martial Arts Classes for kids

Focus: The Key to Unlocking Your Child's Potential

No matter how chaotic things can get for families at home, having focus is paramount for kids to be able to thrive and find success in life. Even though parenting can be tough, learning the importance of focusing on tasks from an early age is invaluable. Not only does ‘Focus’ help set children up for better academic performance, but it also enables them to take ownership of their actions with responsibility and self-reliance.

Having focus at home isn’t just about being ‘well-behaved’ but rather understanding how focusing on tasks in the right way helps create something positive such as improved performance for both school work and other creative activities.

This month’s Life Skill of ‘FOCUS AT HOME’  in our kids and adult martial arts classes – is purposeful to enable Focus Martial Arts to partner with parents to teach this valuable skill to help kids stay on task, solve problems with more ease, prevent stress and improve their overall well-being.

This month take advantage of your child’s martial arts lessons by discovering opportunities for them at home to use and improve their Focus.  It’s a lesson that will last a lifetime!

Grading for Blue Belt and Purple Belt Requires Safety Equipment - Learn How to Order

Since we’re doing a little bit more sparring in our classes blue belt and above, all students grading for these belts need to get their own sparring pack or protective equipment.

Doing sparring is one of the best ways to learn self defence. But to do that, we have to make sure that our members are safe and having fun the whole time.

In your sparring pack, depending on what belt you’re going for – you will have your shin guards, gloves, mouth guard, foot guard, and head guard. When you get to blue belt, we learn weapons, so you’ll need to purchase your own too.

It would be best for all students grading for Blue & Purple Belt to get all of their equipment ready and sorted in advance.

How to book a private lesson

Martial Arts Brisbane Ninja News – March v1-23

Progress Checks are an important part of our curriculum and grading program, to motivate students and help them stay on track towards their next grading goal.

Every student must earn a full set of “Tips” to be eligible for grading. Little Ninjas will learn and earn these tips in class each week, with a 7 weeks rotating curriculum. Martial Arts students have a four monthly rotating curriculum and learn and earn a tip each month during Progress Week.

During Progress Week, every class will be tested on their skill that they have been learning and practising through the previous month. Not all students will pass their progress check and earn their tip in class. Martial Arts students are welcome to attend additional classes in Progress Week to try for the tip as many times as they like.

If they do not earn their tip in Progress Week, don’t stress. Some students just take a bit longer, need some additional practice or support to be ready for that Tip. We have a number of ways to help your child catch up.

Special Progress Check Class
– We hold two Special Progress Check classes every month – these are usually on the Saturday morning at the end of Progress Week and Monday evening before grading (subject to change).

– Students of ANY BELT LEVEL may be tested on ANY TIP that they feel ready to earn.

– Students must book into the class in advance.

– Please note, this is not a teaching class. This class is for Progress Checks only.

– This class allows students to catch up on any tip that they may have not been ready for in the correct Progress Week, but have since put in the extra practice, or they may have missed out on the testing due to absence.

Private Lessons

– Students are welcome to book a private lesson for additional one on one help to improve their skill, or simply to have a progress check conducted outside the usual testing classes.
